Intrepid Jewellery opened its doors in 2023, but before then there was just me, Rachel. (Hello)
Living on the Jurassic Coast, I was always on the hunt for treasure, especially fossils and ‘cool' rocks, as the 5-year-old me would say (not much has changed). From a young age, I was always playing around with my beach findings, which I’d usually incorporate with my mum's old or broken jewellery, making it wearable again. As well as being very insecure growing up with my size, my confidence with clothes did not exist, so I made up for it with accessories. Accessorising for me is like putting on your armour, it makes me feel empowered and more fearless hence where the name Intrepid came from.
It was only in 2019 when instead of making another candle holder or plant pot with clay I decided to scale down and make some earrings. This piqued my interest on various materials and how I may use them in my designs. Using my knowledge of wire wrapping, polymer clay and love of crystals and fossils by 2020 I had established a small online store offering my own custom-designed jewellery, accessories plus quirky home decor. Sparking a passion for all things jewellery this inspired me to go further and take classes in silversmithing. A year and a bit of practising and experimenting I am now confident and proud enough to share my work and hope they bring you as much joy as they do for me.
